How do I upgrade my BlackBerry OS to the latest one?
To upgrade your BlackBerry OS please contact your network operator or find the list of existing links to BlackBerry OS download pages at BlackBerry Forums.
I am a T-Zones
subscriber with Unlimited T-Zones plan. Can I use IM+ for BlackBerry?
T-Mobile recently started blocking port 80 on the Unlimited T-Zones plan ($4.99) and the Unlimited T-Zones Pro plan ($9.99).
In order to use IM+ for BlackBerry via T-Mobile GPRS you would need to upgrade
to the Unlimited T-Mobile Internet ($19.99 - port 80 open).
With Unlimited T-Mobile Internet you can use IM+ with TCP/IP connection type
if TCP/IP connection is enabled on your device. You can select "Direct
TCP" or leave the "Default" connection option in IM+ Settings / Connection.
I am getting an error message saying: "
The following modules could not be loaded because their digital signatures were invalid".
This problem may occur, if your BES administrator has disabled the option which lets you to install
third-party applications on your device. You would need to contact your BES administrator. Once your
administrator changes this policy, you would be able to use IM+.
If your Blackberry OS is 4.3 or higher, you may use IM+ via Wi-Fi. In IM+ please go to Settings / Connection and check "Use Wi-Fi interface". IM+ will automatically switch to Wi-Fi connection when it is available, and switch back to your usual connection type when you leave a Wi-Fi zone.
What is BES and what is MDS?
Are they obligatory for using IM+?
BES is BlackBerry Enterprise Server. It is a secure corporate solution which is designed to be
an entry point of wireless traffic into wired world.
If you are a corporate user, MDS should be enabled for your account on your BES server.
But MDS/BES is not obligatory for using IM+. You can use IM+ with your wireless carrier's
TCP/IP, HTTP or WAP connection.
I get a message saying: "The application
IM_2_BES has attempted to open a connection to the location inside the firewall which
is not allowed by your IT policy".
You would need to disable firewall on your Blackberry: Options-> Security Options-> Firewall.
Then please press Menu button, select Edit default permissions and change all values to Allow.
If this doesn't help, please, ask your network administrator to allow outgoing connection (open port 80).
What is Server polling rate in IM+ connection settings?
This option is available for HTTP connection. You can set up the time interval in minutes between
connections to the IM+ gate servers if you are idle (not sending messages or changing status). The higher
this value is, the less traffic IM+ will produce. However, if someone sends you a message when you are idle,
you will receive it in the worst case only after the indicated interval.
Just decide which time interval is the best for your purposes and enter it.
