  • I have just upgraded IM+ to the latest version, but now it disconnects often. What can I do?

In IM+ please go to Main /Settings/Services and check "Keep Alive".

  • IM+ disconnects when I receive a phone call.

This problem deals with some peculiarities of GPRS connection. It is not possible to make phone calls and transfer data simultaneously.
But IM+ reconnects automatically after phone call, if it was not longer than 10 minutes.

  • I have problems using IM+ on my Cingular Blackjack.

Please use the following TCP/IP settings on your phone:
APN: isp.cingular
Username: ISPDA@CINGULARGPRS.COM
Password: CINGULAR1
If they do not work for you, please contact Cingular and ask them which data plan allows TCP/IP connection, for example, DTCNUNL data plan.

Java Phones:

  • What do I need to get connected with IM+?

IM+ for Java phones can work via Internet/Web GPRS, 3G, CDMA, UMTS, WiFi, WAP or HTTP connection.
It cannot work via SMS or MMS.

We recommend you to contact your wireless carrier and make sure that you have full internet access enabled and allowed to use 3rd party internet applications.

If you have any connectivity problems, we recommend you to go in IM+ to Services / Menu / Settings / Network and try to change connection type selecting TCP/IP or HTTP.
Note: After changing connection type you need to restart IM+.

  • I'm unable to use IM+ on Samsung device

Samsung phones allow to set Internet connection in two places: for the whole device and specially for Java applications that use Internet connection under Applications\Java World\Settings. Without correct settings for Java applications you won't be able to connect with IM+.

  • Can't load IM+ via Bluetooth or IR on my Samsung D500

We have numerous emails from users who can't load applications via IR or Bluetooth from D500. This is a known issue for Samsung D500 phone. The best way to load IM+ is to do this via wap: wap.shapeservices.com

You can download software with a serial cable.

Please note that for D500 JAD file is enough, no need to download JAR file.

  • I'm using Nokia 6230. When it starts to download the file for IM+ installation over-the-air (from the WAP link) the error message appears like this "Invalid File".

The matter is that jar and jad files are unable to be sent over the air to Nokia 6230. That's why we advise you to send them using PC Suite program. You may find PC Suite program on the site of telephone producer (www.nokia.com specially for Nokia 6230). Please note that you have to use IrDA or Bluetooth also.

  • When I try to download IM+ by using WAP connection from my cell phone, it says: "Impossible to access IM+"

Possibly you are using Sharp device. Please use cable, IrDA or Bluetooth to send IM+ installation files for your device as it doesn't support correct over-the-air loadings.

  • I am not able to download IM+ to my Samsung z320i.

If your Doja version is 3.5 or higher, you can download IM+ here: imode.shapeservices.com
If it is less than 3.5, IM+ is not compatible with your phone.

  • I have difficulties connecting to IM+ with my Motorola Razr v3.

All Java applications on your phone require a special "Java Session" WebSession for network connectivity. This WebSession is separate from any WAP or Internet WebSessions you may already have configured. If one isn't already present, create a new Web Session for use by Java applications: Select "Menu" - "Web Access" - "Web Sessions" - "[New Entry]". Name the new entry "Java Session", set all Service Types to "HTTP", and enter the relevant Internet access point information for your network operator. If you're still experiencing connection problems, try entering the DNS IP address for your network operator: Select "Menu" - "Settings" - "Java Settings" and insert the DNS IP address.

Nokia Communicator 9500/9300:

  • I opened the application and I do not see anything, only one tab Roster.

After launching the program press Menu button on your Communicator to configure IM services and connect.

  • Can't connect via WLAN

Most likely it is a problem with WLAN configuration. Your WLAN gateway may block some TCP/IP ports which should be opened for normal IM operation. Please contact your WLAN administrator to find out whether it allows you to work with such application as ICQ® (MSN, Yahoo, etc).

Please note that in some cases you may successfully browse WWW or send/receive mails via WLAN, being unable to use other Internet application , such as ICQ® - it all depends on WLAN gateway configuration.

  • I am using IM+ on a 9500. Even if I have a WLAN connection IM+ starts a GPRS connection. Is it possible to configure it to use the WLAN instead?

It is known that other 9500 users can use Internet via WLAN. Most likely the reason is in your phone settings. In Control Panel -> Connections -> Internet Setup it's possible to set up priorities of connections. In your case the highest priority is set for GPRS and then goes WLAN. You should set the highest priority for WLAN connection.
